This blogging thing is new to me, so I’m hoping if I just keep writing, even if only a little, a flow will develop and maybe it’ll get easier.
So, just a quick thought for today, since I certainly need it and I’m sure someone else might appreciate it!
Lately, I’ve been writing down a goal each morning. Two days ago, it was patience and yesterday it was thinking before speaking and acting “on purpose.” I didn’t necessarily meet those goals, but writing them down at least helped somewhat. Today, in addition to these things, I want to focus on pleasing God in all that I do.
So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him. –
2 Corinthians 5:9
…so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.-
I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called-
The list could surely go on, and perhaps I should devote some extra time today to finding out what else the scriptures say, but for now I simply want to redirect our minds to what God calls us to each day.
Whatever it is you or I find to do each day, let us do it with purpose; with the purpose of pleasing God. Perhaps that mindset (and prayers for strength and focus) will aide me in my daily resolve to be patient, to not react and to think before I speak.
Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.-
I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak…-
